Default Posting question

Soon I am planning on doing a scratch build, converting Micro Telemaster plans to a low-wing version.

I would like to post a thread on the build. Would it be OK to post that thread in this 'kit building' forum as it IS a build post? Or do I have to post it in the 'scratch build' forum? I would much prefer to have it in the 'build' forum as it gets a lot more visits than the 'scratch' forum.

I would consider this more of a "kit-bashing" project making it appropriate for this forum.

Bring it on. A good build thread is always good reading as well as a learning tool by reading about how other modelers do things. Sounds like you better get started. Good Luck, Dave

Questions.
1) Is it easy to convert a high-wing to a low-wing without altering the flight characteristics?
2) As long as the wing leading edge matches where it was as a high wing it should be OK?
3) I want the landing gears on the wing, should it be ok as long as they are close to the wing leading edge?

Yes, yes, and yes.

The one thing to be careful of is keeping the wing's incidence the same as it was originally.

What you are stating about incidence, that is the measure from wing tip to stab tip, right?
Also, the dihedral should be the same as the high-wing version, or would it be ok to have no dihedral as I would like it to be?

No, incidence is an imaginary line from the forward center of the wing through the center of the trailing edge. If the original wing location had the incidence at zero, you want the new location to hold the wing at zero.

If the original location had +1 degree, the new location must have +1degree, etc.

I don't know if this plane has a symmetrical wing, but is it possible to just build the fuselage upside down to utilize the original wing mounts? Just put the stabilizers on the bottom and the landing gear on the top?

Probably not, but I'd like to see your build.

Good luck

The telemaster has been modified into a low wing and called a RCM Funster I know of 2 sizes a 20 size and a 40 size. The last I knew plans were still available from RCM plans even though the magazine is defunct. If you can find a set of plans for either size they should help you in your conversion. I had one in 40 size many years ago and it flew great.

No it is not a symmetrical wing, it is a flat-bottom. I will be searching for something on the Funster for ideas. Where can I find info on this plane?

My plan, after sheeting the cabin area where the high wing was, is to round the cabin as the attached photos show.

I have never seen a 1/2A scale plane with tricycle gear. Do they make front landing gears small enough to do this with a Micro Telemaster?
