WAY TO GO BOB!!!! There's nothing quite like the feeling you get from a successful maiden flight on a great looking r/c model.
Curious: you mentioned using 21 Century fabric covering. What's your take on this product and how many pieces did you use to cover the HOG fuselage?
Soft landings.

Thanks Joe,
I used 2 rolls of the fabric and it is a lot easier
to work with than monokote IMO. I'm no expert
at covering either.
I was nervous to say the least, yesterday. I have
been going over all the components and resetting some
of the contol throws ( mechanically ). I had to add some
Right rudder and right aileron and a bunch of down elevator
yesterday. I still can't believe how long she'll float on final,

FWIW,
I re set my trims to zero on the Tx. I also
mechanically re set the control sufaces at the push rod connections.
I added a bit more nose weight, till my new Rx pac (heavier) comes.
Hope to fly her again tomorrow, ( weather)

Bob, you have a great looking Astro-Hog there and it's well worth the effort to take all the time you require and set 'er up nicely as to the trims, balance and such. Over the years I've flown a number of these Hogs (am just now finishing the build process on my 4th Hog - a plan/scratch build) and I can honestly say they all fly swell. It's just a super nice model to take to the field. Have fun!!

Thanks Joe,
I made some mechanical trim adustments after
zero ing out the Tx. Not good, but made it fly.
I think I found the problem ? I had 100 % epa
on the left aileron and 85 % on the right.
She's home safe though but it was a hand full.

That difference would certainly contribute to having your hands full when getting the airplane trimmed out. Glad you were able to get it sorted out. One thing I do with my planes is to set up the ailerons with a differential flying setting: more down throw than up throw. If I have 100% down throw dialed in on an aileron, I'll then set the up throw on that aileron to about 85%; this is done on EACH aileron. The plane performs much nicer with this setup.

Hey Joe,
You should have seen my knees knocking lol.
I do have differential mechanichally set on both
ailerons. More down than up. I use MinnFlyers
set up.

Are you saying that you give the ailerons more down then they have up? Why? Can you explain?

That yellow Hog will look good flying through a clear blue sky..... Received my Solartex order from BalsaUSA (quick service BTW) so I'm ready to cover my Hog now. Dark Red on top and half way down fuselage sides of the fuselage and all of the tail, Dark Blue on bottom half of fuselage sides and fuselage bottom. Wing will be Dark Red overall with Dark Blue on top leading edge from front and going back about 3 inches and tapering back to rear of wing at wing saddle from a point maybe 6" or 8" from the wing saddle/fuselage sides. Maybe a gold or white 1/4" stripe where the two colors meet. That's the plan...for now...
