Default High wing trainer type airframes for a...

I'm looking for two kits and am having a hard time finding them. Both must be high wing easy flying with a wingspan of 6 1/2 feet or less.

The first is for a Saito 100. I currently have it in a kit built Four Star 60 and would like to move it to something more forgiving. I'm wondering if a GP PT .60 can handle that much engine?

The second is an airframe for an OS FS .30. I tried a GP PT 20 and a CG Eaglet 50 and both kits came out too heavy, and I would prefere something lighter and as a lawn chair type flyer.

Thanks.

For the saito 100, I would recommend a Sig Kadet senior. Its about an 78" ws and a .40 2-stroke can fly it. The PT-60 would work, but its a lot of engine for it. You'd have to throttle back for easy flying. Dont know about the .30.

Just an FYI on the Kadet Senior: while the ARF version comes with ailerons, the kit version does not. It is, however, a fairly simple modification to add ailerons and if you so a search you will find a lot of information on this kit.

The wing is too big to haul.

You guys dont think the Saito 100 would be too much for the Kadet? Ive allways liked the looks of that plane.

You want something more forgiving than a Four-Star 60? Wow... try reducing the travel on the control surfaces. And throttle back.

The 100 is in an appropriate plane. Put that 30 fourstroke in a Kadet Senorita, and fly it until you find it boring. Then you'll notice the Four-Star handles very nicely.

Just my opinion,
Dave Olson

The 4*60 flys just fine and Ill be keeping it. I have a 4*40 on the bench right now in fact. I just want some slow flying "Sitting in a lawn chair" type flyers for days when I feel lazy and want some really low and slow fly-bys.

Try the Goldberg Freedom 20 for your .30. It would be a perfect match. I fly mine with a K&B .28 and she flies fantastic.

I think the biggest problem you got is the 100 is a powerful engine usually on hotdog planes not floaters. The 4 star is a floater with the right engine. Like a .72 or 82. I got a Kadet Senior that I have bashed with a K&B.65 and at anything more than 1/2 throttle it takes off; it can hover; too much power if abused. If you got to use the 100, I would go with the Telemaster and make it a 2 piece wing for transport. The 30 is not a powerhouse. It has to be light whatever. If you just want a floater get a Dynaflight Butterfly. A Kadet Senorita would be nice too but make sure you go with a small radio as that engine has the power of a .20 2 stroke.
