I believe the first time Bridi sold a company it went to Great Planes; BlueJay was like the 3 time he sold out. I believe it the P51 and Shrike went to GP.

Maybe there is a history in the classic pattern forum?? I will have to look.

RE: bridi f7f tigercat need info
thanks fellas for your intrest in my search. i didnt have much sucess in my followup with blue jay or gp. but i did find a gentleman named Bill Price who owns G&P sales, he kits an f7f that is very close to this aircraft, it is also 64" wingspan. it seems to have some updated building techniques and methods that i would like to incorporate into this plane. He also sales several other very nice scale twins, check it out. the biggest reason i want to obtain a manual and plan is to see exactly how the wing is built and i still have to finish the entire inside of fuselage as far as servo mounts, wing mounts, etc.. the wing is finished. it has one servo for the flaps, one servo for the ailerons, one servo for both throttles, my first thought was to change this but this might be actually better as far as weight and operation. sometimes oldschool methods are better.

AT6texan,
What information are you looking for regarding the F7f? Your model looks essentially complete. The one i built and flew was flown on 2 K&B .60's and an engine failure is what ultimately caused it to crash. If I were to build another one I would definitely make it electric powered.

also there arent any bulkheads in the fuselage behind the rear wing mount. do you know if there is supposed to be any ? im not really positive if the front wing mount was installed properly as well.

The fuselage only had 1 former and that is the one supporting the nose retract. I can't see how your wing is mounted but I can tell you that my tigercat's wing was supported by two screws, one near the L.E. and one at the T.E. The screw holes were at the bottom of the fuselage. Also the main landing gear were mounted to .40 size motor mounts that were bolted to the a nacelle former. Hope that helps.

everything in this aircraft seems to be as you describe. i did include i pic of the wing mounts. when i saw the retract setup i wondered if the use of engine mounts was original setup. in one picture the torque rods you see are for the throttles, was this corrrect and did you use this setup ? also you see the bell cranks in wing for ailerons, was this setup solid and dependable ? i was thinking of changing this but any added weight could be an issue. there were 2 new "italian" st51s in the plane but i removed them for sale and was thinking about twin magnum 70fs, what do you think ? i thought about the electric route but i own nothing electric and it would be cost prohibitve to enter it just yet. upon talking to you in more detail here, there cant be much of a set of plans. i probably dont need a copy of them. if theres anything more about certain build details you can recall i would appreciate it, this will be my first twin and i can use all the advice you feel like offering. also how did she fly ?

A6TEXAN
The Bridi tigercat was a very nice flying model. The airfoil is thick (which can be good and bad) but its top speed was still fast enough and the landing approach was very predictable. Mine weighed in at a hefty 16 lbs (I liked bondo back then[&o]) which increased its takeoff and landing speed but after that I couldn't really tell a difference. The engine out that destroyed it was a very dramatic event which is why I suggested going to electric power for reliability purposes. The first sign that the engine had died was a violent snap roll at altitude. I quickly went back to idle for the other engine and regained control. I got the wings level and glided it to the ground. I don't believe this is one of those twins you can fly on one engine.

Hey A6TEXAN I'm back at the house and I do have the plans and instructions. I've started building mine but I'm waiting on the retracts from century that I just ordered. If I decide to go ELC does anybody out there have recommendation for a setup?

Hey AT-6! Man that seem to be the question about this plane! I can't find any CG info on the plans of the Instructions![] I know there are some here that have built and flown one, soooooo! Guys, we need some help! Where is the CG for MISS KITTY? Oh, somebody was asked why this beast is so heavy. There is a lot of wood in this kit! Solid Wood! I'm going to try some mods and see if I can light it up a little. Just got a message from Century Jet, my retracts are on the way!

I bought a Bridi Tigercat and it shipped out yesterday so I expect it'll arrive in a few days. Looking forward to seeing it in person. Plans are to go electric with a pair of nice sized Turnigy outrunners and something between 4s to 6s power. I'd really like to keep it to around 10 pounds or less. Have to weigh the bare airframe and go from there.

RE: bridi f7f tigercat need info
Back in the day, the Bridi Tigercat was one of the most expensive kits out there, it was over $200 ($219.00) bucks! Only the new Byron kits were more. That was when the Royal P-38 was about $150, and a Top Flite P-51 was only $60. I wanted a Bridi Tigercat so bad! I just could not afford it untill they were all gone.
Yes, instant snap roll when one quit. That was one of the most challenging to fly models back when men were men! O yes make it electric. Ha! Ha![:-]
