Hope these ones come through, if you look carefully you will see that the horns for controlling the upper ailerons are pitched differently than those in the lower, driving, ailerons.

Braddock, the diference is pretty much notorious, maybe will result in a not so agressive spin. I think that right and left ailerons are even, then there are not much aileron differential there, you may check the degree of deflection , up and down of the bottom wing.
The upper wing will give more authority on turns (spins, or rolls) anyway is a very nice Ultimate and I hope to hear about the next flight, kind of historic isn't it?

Best of luck.

Alfred.

In a thread here I found a guy who built this plane with the KB sportster .65 shown in the plans, according with him it flew great but was far to make a knife edge loop.

It is a large range of engines that this bipe will go fine with, I would not hesitate and try the first one on hand.

In mine there have been two engines, the first one a Magnum 120 Four Stroke, very heavy and moved the very same prop that any of my Saitos 100 could do, then I bought the OS 120 AX and I am very happy with it.

I do not if a rc Full Scale was ever built, but I can say that there was a full scale electric project which was
Published on the FlyRC magazine sometime a go.
I will look for it and tell you all details.

Tony, you are # 22

You have the # 20

Those first CG Ultimate 10-300 were harder to build as they were crushed cuts, mine came mixed, but with a lot of laser cuts, even thought there is a lot of sanding job.

I bought my first CG Ultimate when it was the new hot kit you just had to get, I think around 91 or 92. Built it exactly per plan, put an OS 120 surpass on it and WOW!!!! what a plane!
Ditto, Scott. I remember seeing the first ad for the kit in RCM, and thinking "I GOTS ta have that!" I built mine stock, except for the landing gear and replacement cowl/wheel pants. Couldn't get into using the supplied wire pieces, and we all know that CG egg shell formed part material was worse than useless.

I flew that model for several years, then sold it like a fool. I bought and assembled the ARF years later, just before CG sold out to Lanier. Put a Laser 150 on that one... talk about a match made in heaven. Still got that engine, and if I run across another kit, I'll buy it for sure. But finding one will be pure luck, I imagine.

I'll take whatever number is up; I guess intentions and past ownership count for something????

BigAl, I am very happy to see you here, and thanks for sharing the picture (I know you have more) of your Ultimate, it's a big meaning in this thread.

Also your knowledge and experience in building is an investment in this thread.

You are member of the brotherhood # 24

I started my CG over a year ago and then a club mate, who happens to be an awesome builder, started his. His work was amazing and put my handy work to shame. Shelved it and went for an easier first kit, or so I thought in my Bryon Cap. twn has sold his, but now I have rekindled the build. Looked at two motors today. An Evo .91 and a couple Aerovate 20 and 15 cc gassers. Thinking about electric, but leaning toward the gas as nitro prices have forced the issue.

Go with Glow, Gassers are heavy with less power, Electic cool, but pricy. 120 4 Stroke and you have an Airplane. If you are in the R/C hobby to save $$, WRONG HOBBY !. Have no issues wit Saito or YS on mine so far

You have the number 26.

A good friend of mine had the ARF version with the YS 120, I must say that the power was unlimited. Once he was just about to loose her, because a case of bad fluttering on elevators, he is a great pilot and landed with only one elevator working. I told him that, after the fix, he should seal the hinges with clear monokote. I also sealed ailerons as well as elevators. I am not that great pilot and I do not want to try a landing with only one elevator half.

RevyMaxx, welcome to the brotherhood.

You got the #27.

I think Michael is right about gasoline engines, they tend to be great choices in the near future but by now glow is the way to go. I am still spending 25 a month for a gallon of 15% Omega, not bad.
