That is some story! Loose a battery pack and still land the plane. The stars were sure aligned for you that afternoon. My luck I would have rekitted it.
Are you running a regular APC prop or the electric version. Twin 5000 mAH packs or two 2500 in parallel? Really curious about your setup. Do you have any pictures of the installation you would like to share.
Thanks,
John

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
Finally, today I started covering the Ultimate
Earlier I posted a concept ofmy desired scheme.(post # 1003)
First was the underside of the bottom wing. The checker scheme is more demanding than a single colour as care is needed for symmetry. I covered the servo well covers at the same time and will cut these out later to ensure continuity of the checkers.
mikeBTW I too loved the story of the flying generator.

I'm using the apc E blades. I thought about testing it with the regular props to see if there was any difference in preformance. But never seem to get around to doing it.
I'll dig it out of the trailer sometime and take a couple of pics of the installation. It's actualy pretty simple though. I just left the bottom of the fuse open forward of the wing, cut away most of the bottom of the cowl and just slide the battery right in. There was just enough room for the 2 6cell 5000s.

Unfortunatly the plane is in the camper for the winter. I tried to get a couple of pics of the installation, but most of them don't show anything. But this one will at least give you an idea.
yuck.. I see the covering is peeling on the cowl. [:'(] I had that blue monokote for ages, unfortunatly by the time I got around to using it they had discontinued the matching paint. This was my first (and last) time covering cowl in monokote!

Twins are a great idea for electric. Never have to worry about a flame out! I like gas and glow, but I have to say electric has gotten to the point where it can actually be better than traditional power. My ulti is a good example, it has the power of a 180 4 stroke (or more) and is about 24 ounces lighter than the previous one with a 1.20 4s.

Thanks Knight, might look into an E conversion for the Ultimate, already have a suitable motor to drop in. Plus I've got stacks of 6S 5000's that are used in my helis.

For those members that have in mind to go on the electrical choice, it would be a good idea to post the entire power process, pictures are always of big help.

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
Hi All, I built one of these back in 1995 when I was still a kid. Its been rebuilt about 3 times, but the plane is still flying today, powered by an O.S. FS 90 Surpass. Its by far my favorite plane to fly out of everything I have.
I've been looking for a kit to build another, no luck yet but I've seen them come up from time to time on ebay.. .fingers crossed, I'd consider scratch buiding one if I could find some templates for the die cut body formers....I know some people were looking to do this, not sure if it happened ( I stopped reading after 20 or so pages of this thread. )
If I find a kit here soon I'll make some paper templates and get them into pdf form at least so they could be reprinted out. on a printer.
Anyway glad to see there is a following for this plane... disappointed that when I decided I wanted to build another they were no longer available... :-)

alfredbmor and I were trying to create the templates and what not. I think alfred may have a copy of the plans but if you want a complete package PM me your email and I'll send you the plans and the copies of all the formers. The only thing you'll have to use the plans for is to trace the fuse sides, top, and bottom.
incidentally, if you don not feel like cutting the parts out you can still get pieces of the kit. I recomend the ribs and fuse foremers to keep the price down. but if you think about it the kits are going for 200+ so you may be just better of getting the parts from great planes and building one
