I just double checked that. .. that is the forward most point of the balance range and it goes back from there about an inch or so. So it is adecent starting point but you'll likely want to move it back for increased aerobatic capabilities.

I've got a new cowl fitted and new wheel pants fitted, and to my surprise, my old ASP .91 still runs great(new carb). Now I need to get the paint work done and she will be looking like the day she was born

Thanks guys!
It was fun to find out I wasn"t crazy, looking at the "BIPE" hanging for so many years and thinking to myself, "thats still the best model out there"

Took the "BIPE" out for the first flight in 15 years, man what a great plane!!
Here I am 59 years old and I feel like a kid on christmas morning!! I always thought it could use more power and I will probably follow the fine example of so many of you and convert her to a DLE 20 somday ($$) but for now the 20 yr. old ASP doesn't skip a beat and wrings her out pretty well actually
When I get the paint work done I"ll post a picture.Really, I'm asking myself now "what kind of IDIOT leaves a 10-300 hanging for 15 years" duh that was ME. NOTANYMORE
see ya dudes

Gary...I'm right there with you...I got my Ultimate flying a month or so ago after letting it sit for 10 years...I'm an Idiot too!!
I've been having so much fun with this thing and it's for sure one of my favorites of all time. I currently have a YS 120NC in it and love the way she's flying...I use to have a YS 91AC in it which was OK but I like the 120 much better!! My plane is about 25 years old and has tons of time on her from previous years, I don't know why I ever quit flying it??
I was wondering if any of you guys are doing any mixes with the bipe?? My plane has some pitch and roll coupling while knife edge...I checked and re-checked the upper and lower wing incidence, engine thrust ect and they all were spot on...It's not a super big deal and I was initially doing manual corrections but decided to put some mixes to make life a little easier...
I have another CG Ultimate Bipe I bought from a guy which is framed up, I'm sorta itching to get to work on that one too. It's a little rough from sitting and has some cracks and dings but it's all repairable. He initially sheeted the sides of the fuse with some thin plywood but then pulled it off, that will take some work to clean up but it's not too bad. I actually sheeted the fuse on my current plane when I built it 25 years ago but did it with 1/16 balsa instead of plywood. I don't think I will sheet the fuse this time though. I plan to do this one in the Bluehawk scheme which I originally wasn't too fond of, but now I like it and think it will be kewl... [8D]
Enjoy your plane!!
Chuck

Excellent ThunderBoat45!! Yeah, your plane looks Awesome and I do like that BlueHawk scheme...The 3 blade prop is Awesome too!!
I was taking a look at my "project bipe" today and am sorta excited to get started on it!! The guy who built it wasn't really what you would call a craftsman but I think it will be OK...The more I look at it I think I will sheet the fuse with balsa on this one too...I have another YS 120 I can put on it but I'm sorta thinking I may try a small gas engine on it?? Hummm...
Have Fun...

ok Gang! i need some help.... I have an Ultimate that has a Super Tiger S90K in it with a slim line pitts muffler. Everytime I transition from idel to WOT the engine quits. When I fly it with the stock muffler it's ok. I tried using a Perry pum to help with fuel supply but no help... Any ideas, the engine flies fine with the stock muffler, but when i put the pitts muffler on it's worse than a woman, totaly unpredictable...

I have heard the same issue before, what I can remember is that changing the carburetor solves the problem but it's kind of a drastic solution, the problem as I can remember is related with air leaking into the chamber and when you swap the muffler the problem is mite likely to show up. I also can remember that changing the black rubber in the carb could solve the problem, I would try it before considering changing the carb. I don't remember the brand of the carb that works fine with that super tigre but I am sure that there is thread in this particular issue. Cheers.

I have a ST G2300 that I flew with a Bisson Muffler, not sure how that compares?? I remember having to really adjust (lean) the low speed needle, it seemed abnormal but I kept going in 1/8 increments till it ran right which it finally did...It has been some years since I ran that engine but I just happened to look at it the other day and noticed how far in the low speed needle was adjusted...It ran very nice once I got it...

Not surprising Atlanta.. the Bisson will increase exhaust tank pressure. When I went with the YS pressurized/supercharged engines years ago.. I never went back ... no more constant needle adjustments. Still on same setting from 19 yrs ago on the 120sf.
Peter that 90 should pull it great!!

I had the honor of meeting Joann Osteraud with the 10-300 years ago.. and living in Lakeland FL ... Bob Godfrey's Shop was in my work area... so I would stop by and see him (and the Ultimate) designed around the Precision Eagle 4.2 GLOW. One of those visits Gordon Price was there on SUn-N-Fun weekend in Lakeland.
I didnt go the last couple of years to SunNFun due to business and livingin AL now.
I THOUGHT after Joann accident there were no more Ultimates flying..
Here is a 10-200 flying last year... Thrilled to find this

Peter; here's my two cents, I had this problem with a super tiger 46 and my ASP 91 in the bipe. I solved the issue on both by plugging one of the two outlet pipes,(one is as big as the stock opening). It worked for me anyway
. It's really "cool" to see all these 20 yr. olds going back up again! Long live the 10-300!!!! Gary

I am kinda' thinking I might pursue the tuned pipe option for IMAC type flying....
Just showing another possible option.

I am completely sucked in watching the video! I like the metallic red and gold!!!! It presents very nicely! It should transfer to the Ultimate nicely.
