Through trial and tribulation, lots of $, AAARRRRGHHH and to Hell with its here is some progress on my Shoestring project which was featured in the July Model Aviation magazine. I am having an equally tough time with a good thumbnail creator. Hmm I am building a plane from plans with little to no instructions why not code the friggin page myself? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I am starting to feel better about this plane since it has taken some shape now. I will post more later as it comes along.

SnapStall,
Seeing your pictures, the article makes more sense. Might have to build one of theses myself. Course I still have yet to build the Somethin Extra and the Hog Bipe as well as finish the Cloud Dancer. Been way too busy flying lately to spend much time building.

Later,
John

I have noticed several errors/ommisions/discrepencies in the instructions and plans for this plane. Those that are on my mind at this minute:

The saddle fixtures are called for erroneously in the instructions as compared to the plans.

Leading and trailing edges are claimed to be 1/4x5/8 balsa. If so it takes ALOT of sanding to get them to size. 1/4x3/8 fits better.

Most of the SIG parts called for on the plans are incorrect part numbers or no longer available.

Aerobatic is spelled aerobataic. <--

It is claimed that the 3/32 main spar taper is indicated somewhere, if so I have yet to find where. As a result my main spar is too tall at the wingtip and too short at the root. If the taper were known it would have GREATLY simplified things.

Maybe this is a "get what ya pay for issue" but having built several very successful kits I am disappointed with the plans/instructions. However I really like the looks of this plane and if it turns out through the frustration I will be happy, even if I have to build the wing twice to get it right. And many of the features of building this plane such as the fuselage construction and cowling techniques are new to me, but seem very sound.
