GP RV-4 engine mounting ?
 

Hello all

I'm building a GP RV-4. I was wondering if anyone has mounted the enginehead up instead of head down. If so, what did you do different? I can't think of anything that should be changed.

Nothing? With a pumped engine you might be right.

Even with muffler pressure you need to worry about the tank location.

The plane is designed for an inverted engine. If you go upright without raising the tank you are probably headed toward many deadstick landings, or generally poor engine operation.

Randy and Bill,
The plane is actually designed for sideways installation to accomodate a pitts muffler. I see no reason to mount it differently than the plans call for. I am finishing mine as we speak and the cowl covers the entire engine. (GMS .47)
