AMR TRAINER 20
 

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the AMRTrainer 20? This will be my 1st "Kit" aircraft project and I wanted to get any input about this plane that I can. I intend to go with the recommended DLE 20cc engine, unless I get any negative advice about it. I'd really appreciate any assistance I can get. Thanks...

What is your time frame for building it??? I have one that will be coming in the next couple of weeks that I will be building and doing a build thread on. If you're not in a huge hurry you could follow along on the build thread to help build yours.

Hello Texasboy,

I already built mine, if it's your first kit, dont be affraid, if you follow the steps, you gone get a beautifull plane. On my side, the plane is complete, covered and the engine DLE 20 already installed. I wait for the radio system parts and some hardware to be ready for his maiden flight.

So if you want to know something on the beuilding, dont be shy ans ask me.

My english is not perfect but I can give some tips.

Hello texasBoy,

Since it is a brand new kit, there will be only few contributors to this thread at start but as mentionned above, this kit is really easy to build. It is a trainer so it is also easy to fly. In fact, it is a reduced Trainer 26 from AMR-rc but its outline has been changed to make the plane look like a vintage plane rather than the more modern look of the T26. If you have any question, i can also assist anyone who is building the plane since i participate very very closely to its design.

I just got the Trainer 20 kit a couple of weeks ago and will be building it soon. I plan to use mine for breaking in new motors, training, and general goofing off. I must say I'm impressed with the quality of the kit and all the high quality hardware; it even has wheels! FYI, I've built R/C planes for 20 years and would be glad to help if I can. The instructions require some careful reading, but the pictures are excellent!

After the original version, I add a little cover over the engine just to give another look. But it's my own creation, so doesn't ask AMR to get this part.

Besides doing a build thread one my club is going to be teaching a group of kids at a children's home to fly this summer. I'm hoping to have this together and ready to go by then and use it for that.

Hardly any dihedral. Is there an option for more or less dihedral in the build? The old Carl Goldberg trainers had 2 or 3 dihedral angles. Looks like a good plane. I was waiting to see gas trainers hitting the scene. Aerowworks may even do one.

The plane has the same dihedral than we put on Trainer 26 and Trainer 50 and it is prove to be enough. I design, build and test fly all these trainers and believe me, they are very stable. I use my Trainer 50 for two year now with over 100 flights and it is one of the most stable plane i ever flew even in heavy winds. You can hear the wind in some video of my T50 i put in youtube and the plane is very smooth to land even in that wing. So i would say build it as design and you wont get any problem.

Vibi08, congratulations on a great design! I've been waiting for a trainer for the smaller gas engines, something I can fly in windy conditions, and not spend a lot of time building. I noticed the wing sits lower on this plane than some other trainers which should improve handling in cross wind conditions. The plane also looks very rugged, a nice feature for a trainer. I don't want to take away from RCKen's build thread, but I do want to thank you for an excellent kit.

All AmR-RC planes are build using much stronger structure than what you will find on ARF commonly seen on today's market. They are design to be very easy to build for anyone even a newcomer in the building world. I hope you will enjoy flying it as much as you will enjoy the building.

I found a liitle mistake at the time of the elevator servo under the stab, It's not a big problem but at this location, the fuselage is not widht enough to accept a standard size servo so you can use a slim one or make the little change I did on mine. Look at the pictures and you should understand what I did and the problem was set.

DLE 20... His first run, great! Finally after I inserted the plug wire correctly, he fire up and run smoothly.

Hello all,

here are a couple pictures of a Trainer 50 i am building for a friend. Big trainer with big engine: ZDZ50NG. I fly mine with a ZDZ40 and it is very good with this engine. With the 50cc, it is going to be a very funny machine to fly!!:D
