Some projects I just aquired!

Just aquired some new project planes to finnish... Bought them off of some guy that wasnt much of a craftsman, so i think im going to go over everything with a fine tooth comb... but im sure my skills can breathe new life into these planes...

First (the reason i actually went) the C.G. Super Chipmunk... Nice little plane... like i said, kind of sketchy craftsman work.. but im sure i can rectify it nicely... Came with a .91 four stroke on the nose http://******.com/images/smilies/smile.png Looks like its going to be a fun little plane!

Secondly, not really a project... Ive already added the fuel tank, and tires (from other 'parts' models i got from him), rebuilding an os .46FX that was also on one of the 'parts' planes and its just about ready to go (less radio gear)

Its called a "MegaFly" Not sure who makes it or anything, but its a nice little low wing trainer. If anybody can tell me who makes it I'd be glad to know! http://******.com/images/smilies/smile.png

And last, but in no way the least...

A 1/4 scale P-51 Mustang!!! http://******.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

This thing has been in the works for a VERY long time, and has acquired quite a bit of 'storage' damage... a few holes in the wings, and the fuse... and some of the glue is drying up... Going to have to go over this one REAL well... but it looks like a really fun project to me... A challenging one... but Im always up for a challenge!

As you can see this thing is MASSIVE!... it has Aeromarine "Big Tract" 1/4 scale electric retracts already in... (will have to take them out for the repair work... but this things are pretty neat!!)

I got all this, plus 2 parts planes (one with the O.S. .46FX in it) a 6 ch. airtronics FM radio/reciever/6 servos, plus the thunder tiger (i think) .91 4 stroke thats on the super chippy, and a big tacklebox full of misc parts and tools and accessories... All for $200!! I think it was a pretty sweet deal!

Anybody have any ideas what i could use to power that Mustang tho? I havnt even started researching.. Any ideas would be welcome on any of these!

Thanks

Nice you have your work cut out for you.

LOL @ the open wing bays in the Chipmunk. Those things aren't even close be being symmetrical!

Megafly looks good

Did that guy have a five gallon bucket of nails sitting on the side of that P-51? Is that a Nosen?

The Megafly looks like an old Royal ARF. Looks the same covering, colors, and plastic as my old Royal Air 40T.

That circle on the P-51 is on both sides of it... exact same positioin.... He told me they used it as a display at one time so im figuring it may have been a decal there.... Ihave no idea which kit this is.... it was a kit though, you can see that the formers and other parts were die cut... but No plans, no manuals, no nothing but the plane....lol

As for the chippy...I think he was planning on sheeting in the whole wing by the looks of it... not sure if im going to finnish sheeting it in, or remove the 'extra' sheeting...

Is it a nosen P-51? Looks like it because the radiator area doesn't look scale. I've built 2 nosen P-51s, so if you need any help on them or CG or anything, just tell me.Nice looking airplanes!Jason

VQ Models has an arf megafly that looks like your kit. The covering scheme is different but the overall look is the same

Yes... After some research, I do believe it is a Nosen P-51 kit! I am looking for either a set of plans (and possibly manual), or even just some pictures of certain parts of the plans... Especially the bottom half of the cowling.... this one came with the bottom cowl in splinters, and some broken formers and bulkheads... along with some broken bulkheads throughout the fuselage...

And also, Ihave no rudder! lol is it a built up rudder?or is it just a large shaped piece of balsa?

Any details of plans anywhere on this plane would be helpful though... Otherwise im just going to have to 'wing it' LOL But thats always fun too...

Thanks for the offer though! Im sure I'll have more various questions as i get more involved with this project...

I'll dig out my plans and get some pictures of the cowl area for you. If I recall, the cowl is per plans, but I think on one of them I built, It did make a mod. Any other area pictures you need?

I hear the nosens are great flyers because of the thick airfoil, they just float through the air.
