Getting all experience in first build

Man am I getting experience from this first build. I finally am almost done covering . Well I covered the fuse , wings , vertical and horizontal stabs. I used ultracote smoke purple and ultracote orange. Well I ran out of covering because of a few mistakes I made and had to rip it off and start over on some parts. However now I think I have it down pretty good. Well I break out my new roll of smoke purple and all is great. However when I break out the orange it ends up looking to have a little more red to it and is semi transparent. So I was confused, looked at the packaging on both oranges. Ugh, didn't notice , but the orange I bought the first time was carl goldberg ultracote. The second roll is hanger 9 ultracote. Luckily I only have the elevator, rudder and ailerons to cover so I don't think it will look too bad. But mistakes like this are all experience to me which in my eyes experience turns into knowledge and knowledge is priceless! :)

Sometimes two different rolls of the same cover can have slightly different shading, especially if you leave them on a shelf near a window for some time before you decide to cover a plane with them. I've learned to cover all of my top side surfaces first, so if I need to use a slightly different color on the bottom, no one can tell.

Good for you, Crazynick. Building your first plane can be a challenge for many but also rewarding. You probably learned alot on your own and made a bobo or two but thats normal. As you may have found out by now R.C.U. has a wealth of information that like you said, priceless, and there is no substute for knowledge. I really enjoy seeing you making the step up to building, we need alot more new builders here to keep things alive. Hope it flyes great[8D] Leroy
