question please about CA storage
 

i went to a swap meet today, and purchased a few bottles of 2oz and 1 oz of carl goldberg ca thin and medium, i will not be using them for a wile and i live in florida,so imagine florida weather; aniway, what is the best way to store CA bottles to keep them lasting longer regardless if they are sealed or have been open? in the freezer?in the fridge?
sugestions please???????????

Keep the sealed bottles in the fridge, do not freeze it. Opened containers needs to be sealed well (airtight).
The newer CAcan actually be kept for a long time at 15 C. I do it .

Ditto the fridge as said by Bundubasher.

I put the date on the bottles when purchased, after a year some can go bad.

Put 'em to work!

I've had some in the freezer for over a year and they came out good. Whatever you do make sure they are room temp before you open them.

Interesting. I've had some CA that stayed good on my workbench for several years and some that went bad after only 2 months. I'd like to know why. Poor quality stuff from the manufacturer? Was I sold old stock? Bottle didn't seal well?

If you have CA accelerator - keep it stored as far away from your CA as possible.

I just let the tip crust over and seal the bottle from use, and then leave it on the work bench/garage, I am not sure exactly what the longest I let it sit before but I know i have used some thats over a year old.

I live just a few miles from you and have hadthe sameissues with CA going hard.
I always thought it might be our heat and humidity.
After having numerous bottles go hard on me,I realized that I was storing the acelerator near the CA.
It seemed like a good place to keep it before I realized that the acelerator was trouble..
Once I stopped doing that, 98% ofmy CA is still useablemany weeksafter letting it sit idle.
On on the workbench, I tryto keep the CA and acceleratorat opposite ends of the bench.
I put my CA in a drawer after a building session.
I now keep my"Back-up" CA in baggies in the fridge.
I currently have a couple of bottles in the fridge for about 9-months.
They are still as watery as the day I bought them.

I buy it in the 8 ounce bottles and store it in the freezer, have had it in there for a number of years, both opened and factory sealed. Living here in the desert with 6% humidity it can last for several years just sitting on my bench or in the room off the main shop.

I keep mine in the fridge. Never a problem. I've never tried freezing CA when storing it,
but I think that just refrigerating is fine based on my experience.[8D]

Another advantage of keeping CA glue in the fridge is that when you catch a burglar in the house, you have the CA at hand to glue his hands to the kitchen floor and let the Siamese cat use him as a scratch pole.........http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

Exposure to heat and moisture are the two main factors in decreasing the shelf life of CA. If kept at normal room temperature (74°F) and humidity levels, BSI’s regular CAs will have a shelf life of over two years. Unopened bottles can be stored in a freezer, but this offers little or no advantage over storage in a refrigerator. CA bottles can be stored in a sealed container inside the refrigerator to isolate them from moisture. Adding a desiccant (silica gel) to the container can extend the life of the CA to over four years. Opened bottles that are frequently used should not be put into into the fridge since condensation can occur inside the bottle. Accelerator should never be stored with CA.
