Linkage rod question

I almost feel dumb for posting this but i am just starting to build and i dont have very much experience. First question is i have the linkage rod going from the elevator servo to the elevator conector but the rod is pretty far away from the connector and i feel that if i bend the rod up to the connector to connect it, that i am putting too much strain on the elevator itself. What can i do?

Other question
What type of connnector do i need to connected the speed controller to the battery? as it stand it is just two wires

Thank you for your time

RE: Linkage rod question

Lowflyer281,

Please don't take this question the wrong way, but are you sure that linkage is for the elevator? The reason is that I've put together my fair share of ARF's and I've never seen the linkage so far out of line with the control horn. My first impression is that the control rod you are showing is for the rudder and not the elevator. Is there a hole in the rear of the fuselage on the other side of the plane?

As for your second question, there are quite a few different types of connectors for connections to the batteries and it's a matter of personal preference. Personally, I've always used Deans Plugs for my ESC to battery connections. If you have batteries without a connector as well, please remember to ALWAYS put the female connector on the battery and NOT the ESC.

RE: Linkage rod question

Well put hrrcflyer.. I'm wondering the same thing.. from the pic its hard to see what configuration the tail-group is... as it doesn't look like a conventional tail really...

Smallish bends to make connections are just fine... and sometimes necessary and can help a linkage set-up run much smoother.. The bend that looks to be needed here is excessive.. and I wonder why..

Maybe a larger pic.. further out might help.. What's that cowling looking thing on the tail?.... Is that a tail-cone? It looks to be cracked too.. maybe some fiber tape on the inside would shore that up a bit.. just an observation.. Good luck. :)

do you have pictures of the other side of the plane where the pushrod exits.

RE: Linkage rod question

David you were right, the tube i was putting the rod thru was for the rudder for the conventional empennage for the plane i have the V-tail currently installed so it needed to go elsewhere. Ether way problem solved and a big thanks to everyone that answered.

Happy flying
