Sig Something Extra: right thrust or not?
I am working on a Sig Something Extra, and I am ready to start the fuse. The plans call for 0 degrees of downthrust and right thrust. However, I have read in some post that people build in some right thrust. At this point, I can easily do it, but
not sure if this is a good idea. I am planning to install something in the .55 range, and run a 11 in prop, and do mostly sport flying. I am not ready for 3D yet... So what's your take? Also, I have not decided on an engine yet. I have a TT .46Pro but may get a new engine. Should I wait until I have the engine or can the fuse be built and the engine added later? Thank you for you input. |
RE: Sig Something Extra: right thrust or not?
I've had 4 of the SSE's and I built them all to the plan with 0 degrees of thrust. Never noticed any problems at with them.<div>

Unless it's built in by the designer I always build with zero thrust then during the trim flights if I need it I just make up a shim to put it in. I use washers at the field to find out how much is needed.

Off line thrust angles are to compensate for over powered air frames, where the engine is determining the flight characteristics of the model. I cannot remember the time that I have had to do that on any of mine, and I have built a LOT of scale planes.
