Tailwheel installation question

Currently building a GP 40 Cub, and i didnt think ahead to installing the tailwheel. I want to use a Ohio Superstar tailwheel assembly instead of the supplied wire tailwheel. However i have already sheeted the bottom on the fuse.
My question is, if i was to cut out the very aft section of the bottom fuse, where the fuse joins, Install a small piece of 5 ply and brace it with 2 small triangle stock. Would that be sufficient support to mount the tailwheel assy?

Any advice is appreciated

That should be quite sufficient to provide adequate support for the tailwheel assembly. Cubs are notorious for being nose heavy so the little extra weight should not be a problem.

May not have to cut the bottom at all. <div>You might be able to tack the ply insert to a piece of balsa or a bamboo skewer then, using a strong light and holding the fuse near-vertical with the tail down, squeeze a couple drops of slow CA out and let them hit the tail area where the insert will go. Then maneuver the insert into place, let it set a minute or two, then twist  the balsa/bamboo to snap it clean. </div><div>
</div><div>A couple dry runs are suggested so that you can do it before the glue sets up. </div>

If you have wood to support it then drill end of fuse to receive a segment of dowel. Drill dowel to receive gear. (The third pic doesn't belong and I can't remove it)

3rd picture. No matter if it belongs. "That" is a nice soldering job. ;) Brian
