RE: P-47 War Bird Build
Top Flite .60 sized P-47 kit
I would run retracts but it depends on your flying skill and building skill. |

ORIGINAL: motoman11 Thanks for your input!! the flying is not the problem hef grass strip is it has bent and broken others (Electric and Mechanical) would like Air or something like Dave Brown southern retracts but i think with even air the spring wires are better for a grass strip am i correct? thanks for your help!! I onyl have experience with air up and air down retracts, and only Robarts and Sierra Giant scale, soI'm not sure on the Dave Brown retracts but I have heard the retracts with the springs work very good, but have heard a few cases of the retract not locking down all the way. I will say this, if you have a good clean air retract setup with all the hoses and valves and no leaks, you shouldn't have a problem running all air. I've run all air retracts and never had a failure. |
RE: P-47 War Bird Build
Can anyone tell me what is going on with Spring Air. I have emailed there website and have called their phone with no answers or reply's. Are they still in business? If anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks.

RE: P-47 War Bird Build
I installed robart retracts in my top flite seafury with with the robostruts and they still bent on the grass strip. so I installed the coil of a stock landing gear that I had on top of the robostrut and all problems went away.

RE: P-47 War Bird Build
Looking good. I just finished one of these w/ an O.S. .91 Surpass, Robart wire strut retracts and adjustable valve body. I have not had maiden yet, probably wait for spring. I think the wire strut gear should hold up well on grass fields. I just copied the scheme from the box. Pretty easy to copy and shows up well. I was very happy with the kit, fun build.
