Gas engine for Waco
I'm planning on building a 1/6th Waco and I'm not sure which engine I'm going to use. If I decide to use a gas engine, can anyone recommend a good one for this plane?
Thanks Jeff |

Jeff:
A WACo 1/6 what? UPF, YMF, need to know how big. The Weaver Aircraft Company had many different planes, remember. But, some assumptions. Span 70" to 80", AUW 10 - 12 pounds. Zenoah G-26. Bill. |
RE: Gas engine for Waco
The Waco is a 1/6th scale YMF with a span of 60"
Thanks Jeff |

At 60" you might have a hard time finding a pusholine engine both small enough and light enough. How about a Saito 150? Bill. |
RE: Gas engine for Waco
just had to reply to this since i recently acquired a 90% completed scratchbuilt waco from a guy but mine is 1/3 scale, has 121 inch wingspan with over 4k sq in of win area, wing loading of 26oz, and weighs 50-55 lbs estimated
.. here is a pic of the paint scheme i plan on using... planned on usin a 3w140 but even though it barely fit in the cowling the plug wires wouldnt have...so im still searchin myself but hard to get info when nobody makes em this big... have found info online of a company in germany that makes these this size but no other info than that.... http://home.insightbb.com/~davet/junk/Waco.jpg |

Sorry, the pictured engine is sold in the US as the "RCS 215," but the rest of the world knows it's really a Moki engine. Bill. |
