Drop tank

Hello all. Im presently building a Top Flite P-40 gold edition kit. i want to put the optional drop tank in, but they arent available through top flite anymore, (trust me, I called them direct and the guy sounded kind of surprised i was asking about it) So, i guess my question is, does anyone has one they would be willing to part for, for more than retail in need be, or does anyone know a company or individual that i may acquire one from. ive looked on line, and cant find much other than other people needing one. thanks for any and all help i can get. Im desperate. ive got everything set up for it, just need one.

Maybe Firepower R/C or Park Flyer Plastics can help you out.

Yellow aircraft has them http://www.yellowaircraft.com/accessories/index.htm A-2401 about half way down the page. I have used these on several models.

Shultz21, what you ordered is a 108 gallon. If you look at the original part number its TOPQ7899. The part number you need is TOPQ7900. that's the number for the 75 gallon belly drop tank needed for this model. Check and see what some of these guys are saying for the right size tank. I don't want to see you do all this work and not have the right tank.

R8893, it says its just the drop mechanism. Is that it, or do you get the tank and all?

Just the mechanism

tlojak38 02-16-2014 01:10 PM

I have a couple of the firepowerRC 75gal tanks and there pretty nice looking parts, the ones I have also include a mounting loop to attach the tank to the plane, its just a eyelet but you can use the basic mount to adapt a dropping mech. for your plane, there the perfect size for the 60 size Top Flite planes,
I got mine for a Mustang but there the right size for the P-40 as well, the parts come as a kit so you will need to assemble the tank just like the TF offering one thing I noticed is the plastic is thicker in the firepower parts, the TF stuff( I have one of the 108gal tanks as well) is thinner plastic I am not sure how well they would hold up being dropped from a flying plane over time.

Firepower R/C here. I put one of my tanks on a Hangar 9 P-40 and loved it. The whole reason I started making tanks was due to the fact I couldn't buy a Top Flite drop tank anymore. I made mine more scale... good for 60 sized planes. I even have a cargo pod that looks exactly like a 75 gallon drop tank, but will dispense a payload upon release or impact with the ground. Let me know via pm if I may be of service.
