Fibre Glassing a Kit

I want to fibre glass my next kit build (probably an RV-4) and have a question about the initial build.

The lightening holes in the fuselage have to be filled but what's the best way? Do I simply leave the lite ply in place and wick some CA into the seam, or is it better to replace the lite ply with sheet balsa inserts? Would the weight saving be worth the effort?

either way would be fine. I would personally do basla inserts but its tempting to leave the ply in the holes they were cut from.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll most likely do balsa inserts for this first fibre glassed model, but I'll take the opportunity to weigh the lite ply and balsa parts so I've got a better idea of the weight difference for future models.

Great idea, lemme know what the weight difference turns out to be. Good luck on your glassin!
