I'm in! Here's my BUSA Nieuport at the Centennial of Naval Aviation celebration at Naval Air Station North Island. Looking to dump the not-a-BUSA Dr1 and get a DVII or a SE5a or a Camel.

Granpooba, as to the color of the aircraft, most (but certainly not all) builders try to recreate aircraft that inspire them in one way or another. Or they pick one that just looks good. But I have built some that were how I would have painted mine if I were flying back then. My DVII is a plane from Marine Jagdgruppe Flanders and is done in cub yellow. I have been told that cub yellow did not exist then so how could I use it on my plane? I say prove it did not exist in 1918. They most certainly did not call it "cub" yellow, but they had yellow, so who knows what the shade was?

Add Me to the list. NorthStar. A real hoot off snow.

a) Use laser cutting
b) A 1/4 scale Albatross:-) 1/3 is a bit too big for me...

Besides that, they are the best:-)

+2 on that! I'd like to see a Pfalz D-III (with D-IIIa conversions), too! If they made that available with the oddball spinner and backplate in 1/4 scale I'd buy four kits at minimum.

bobbailey 04-23-2014 03:55 AM

Hey guess I need to join since I have a DVII, pup, and N17 in the box ready for next building season.

Oh yeah! I would get 2 on the spot!

Just wondering if you folks are making up your own paint schemes, or are you taking the colors from actual aircraft ?

With my Eindecker 90, I only plan on using the cream colored linen covering, but will try to add some actual details and decals.

My paint scheme came from some research I did on American squadrons flying in the Great War. My N-28 was from the 27th Aero Pursuit Squadron. My next build will be a BUSA 1/4 scale SE5A done in the 25th Aero Squadron markings.

BUSA brothers I started this so we could have a central place for BUSA kits, a place to show pics and give/gain advice, now that it is underway my goal has been achieved.
Since it is about Balsa USA I think an American should run it and someone who is knowledgeable about BUSA kits and scale in general.
So I would like to nominate vertical grimmace to take #1 spot, what say you vertical?

1/3 BUSA D-VII piloted by Baron Von Swety Hans retuning from a mission in which a Nieuport did not make it back....literally. A friend of mine had the 1/3 Nieuport and during our mock dogfight, was conducting evasive manuvers when something failed and it was lost. Totally unplanned. D-VII is an outstanding performer. ZDZ-80 power.

That little sesquiplane, half wing on the bottom did have a tendency to fail!

How about we send up some more of the squadron?

It was not the Nieuport structure that failed, it was something else as it was intact when it spund down.
Ok.....off we go again......http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1989308

The pilot must have taken a fatal wound.

Count me into the brotherhood. My first Balsa USA kit was a Nomad back in the 80's. Have built and flown countless other BUSA kits and currently have a 1/4 Pup sitting in my building room awaiting it's turn on the table.
