Quality Top Flite Red Box A6M2 Zero Kit
Hi guys,
I wanted some information on the quality of an old Red Box A6M2 Zero Top Flite kit. Some people who built it said that maybe it was the best of the Red Box series, but they had to replace most of the wood because it was too heavy. Does anyone confirm this information? I would love to buy it, we're about $ 290, but I would not throw much wood in the toilet. Thank you, Stefano |
They were typically heavy. They also require a lot of sanding and shaping. The Gold Edition kits build easier but are not much lighter than the older kits. If you build them as per plans and keep your balance where it is supposed to be without adding a lot of weight, they are good flying planes. They fly like war birds so speed is your friend on final approach and they have not duplicated some of the older kits. If you have the kit, build it. Good Luck, Dave
