RE: pin type hingers vs plastic ca hinges
Your picture is not showing up on my screen, but I'm assuming that you're talking about Robart hinges. I use them on most larger planes, but on 40 - 60 size I use CA hinges. I have even used CA hinges on 180 size planes with no problem. The big trick with CA hinges is proper installation.

RE: pin type hingers vs plastic ca hinges
I fly a few 27% models and prefer the radio south brand ca hinge...they are composed of mylar sandwiched inbetween the typical ca wick material. Check them out at your LHD or on Towers website. I always seem to get a lot less hinge gap with the ca hinges vs the robarts...but maybe it's just me! Anyway the radio south hinges are about the strongest ca type hinge I've found and I have complete confidence in them.....

Robart also makes small hinges. Attached picture is my CG Electra, with the smallest of the Robart hinges. Second picture is a closeup of one hinge as installed. Bill. |
