Recommended battery size?
I'm about ready to start with installing all the internals and it struck me that I'm using all the stuff that came with my TX/RX, NOT what's recommended for the plane. It's a Goldberg Tiger .60 - What size battery should I be looking to install? I have a pair of 600mah batteries, but am thinking they may be a little small for 5 servos.

Xyz:
The 600 mah will give you a good amount of flight time with five servos, but if you are worried about it an 1100mah battery set can be had, still NiCad, almost exactly the same size. Bill. |
RE: Recommended battery size?
I use NiMh batteries (1600mah), same size and weight (roughly) as most 600 to 800mah NiCd packs. Don't laugh here, Radio Shack 1600mah 9.6v car packs are $25.00, add 2 connectors and for about $30.00 you have 2 high capacity flight packs that will last the entire weekend!

bdtsr,
What you failed to mention is that you need to cut the 8 cell pack apart, and then should really solder on the connectors. ;) But yes, a simple, inxpensive solution. I bought three 1100 mAh, NiMH packs (with connectors) on eBay for about $25 shipped. I think that's a better deal. :D Dennis- |

How about [link=http://www.rcbatteryclinic.com/parallel.html]this[/link] solution from Red's Battery Clinic?

RE: Recommended battery size?
Dennis, You're correct that I have to "Build" the battery pack. But my time doesn't "Cost" me anything so to me it's a great way to go. I have these in several planes with great results. Less charging and more flying makes me a happy boy! Expert now has some cost effective batteries on the market as well. I like the Expert products, just haven't tried the batteries yet.
