Adding right-thrust/down-thrust to model
I just placed an order for a CG Super Chipmunk and various accessories. Among these accessories was a one-piece pre-tapped OS engine mount for my OS FS-91 Surpass II four stroke. I've read that the Chipmunk requires some right-thrust and possibly some down-thrust. Do I have to be able to drill custom off-center holes in the engine mount to add the right-thrust, or is it set by the angle of the firewall? I'm asking because I'd cancel the OS engine mount order if its not going to be able to give me the required right-thrust (since the mount holes are pre-drilled).
TIA. |

You don't have to mess up that nice mount. Just use shims behind the mount backplate.

Just use the firewall for right thrust and shim in the down. Use the mount, I have used predrilled mounts before. They shure do make mounting engines simpler.

I've had two of these in the past, and I mounted the engine as per the instructions with no problem at all.

RE: Adding right-thrust/down-thrust to model
I have had a couple of Carl Goldberg Chipmunks in the past with OS91FS.
I don't recall having to add any spacers or make any modifications but just follow the instructions. These are excellent flying planes, - like most if not all Carl Goldberg planes |
