What size Robart Hinge for GP Extra .60

Hello,

I am planning on purchasing a GP Extra .60 and would like to use Robart hinges, I used CA hinges without a problem but want to give a try to Robart hinges.

Robart web site says,

1/8" for 0.25 to 0.9
3/16" for 1.2-Giant scale.

I am planning on powering the GP Extra either by a .91 or 1.00 Saito or .91 2 stroke.

My power choice seems like just in between the 1/8" and 3/16" hinge.

What did you guys use on your GP Extra's or similiar planes and recommend? Also are those hinge pockets any good?

Thanks,

I would say you could use either.

I haven't tried the pockets although they do look intriguing. but I don't think they'd work with that plane (at least not the 3/16" ones) because they would be too large for the 1/4" stab.If it were me, I'd go with the 3/16" size.

My guess is the 1/8" ones. The flying surfaces on that plane are probanly no more than 1/4" anyway. I too want to try some Robart hinges on the plane I am building. I am going to use Gorilla Glue to install them. I'm going to use thw 1/8" myself.

I would use the 1/8" size as well. They should be much easier to drill for in your thin surfaces. 3/16" are for larger planes with thicher surfaces.
