four star 40
Hi all
I have built the fuse straight and true and all I am questioned on is the wing design in the middle area. should there be more bracing on it or what. but other than that it looks fine to me. well thanks for the help. Matt |
RE: four star 40
Build it to the planes and you can't go wrong. My son has a four srat .40 on the bench now and I,m impressed with the kit!

Tha wing is good enough with the instructions you don't need to modify brace it.
I have 50+ flights with 46FX, snaps and full throttle dives and pull outs. it is still holding. Here are some pictures during the building, I do have some additional pictures also if you have any questions. http://www.galip.net/Sig4Star |
RE: four star 40
what is the size of the sheeting on the turtle deck you did? Cobra
thanks alot I built it to plans but didn't know what it would do in the long ron Matt |
RE: four star 40
I used 1/16" and worked great wet it from outside and it bends easy, be patient and apply force gradually Instead of adding two 3" sheets have a 3" at the center and two 1.5" sheeting to its sides this way you will have the joints on the sides, beacuse of CA this will be hard to bend and you will have a better curvature at top. You can see this on pictures.
Also make sure that you sand down the formers 1/16" so that the balsa sheeting will flush with the fuse sides. |
RE: four star 40
I flew a 4*40 for years with a .46 up front. Spins, tumbles.....anything and the plane always held up great. Even a few rough landings never hurt the wing. Build to the plans and then fly the livin' heck out of it!

RE: four star 40
will a .46 put it in a hover and give it good vertical performance?
