Top Flite Cessna engine selection.

The TF Cessna 182 calls for a 60 2 cycle or 1.20 4 cycle and the plane weight 10 to 12lbs. I'm glassing mine with all the extras and I want to swing a 15/8 3blade which is close to scale size. Do you think the Saito 1.50 is too big? It weighs the same as the O.S. 1.20 surpass.

I would go with that or the saito 180, which weighs the same as the 150. If you are glassing it and all that, you will need the extra power. You can always cut back throttle if you want, but you can't add more on the smaller engine. You will like it with the bigger engine.

well I have the 1.50 already shipped so I'm glad to see you think it will be ok

I think you did just fine. They are good engines.

Agreed - if yours is all decked-out, you'll want the extra power. - Mine is 11 lbs - O.S. .61 SF, and it needs more power..... flys pretty scale, but I'd like to have a little more oomph! Glad I didn't glass it - it's a monokote monster.

Great Job Scottydog1,
Finally someone who has chosen to not do the 1977 original color scheme!

Is the spinner a Tru-Turn Ultimate?

I had one AUW less fuel was 9#. Powered it with a TT91FS 14X6 it had lots more power then it needed. Flying was at 1/3 throttle. Full throttle takeoff was in about 40 feet. I would say your 1.50 should be way overkill but if thats what i had that is what i would stick in it also.

Hello.
I like your paint scheme a lot, Scott.
I used the OS 120 surpass 3 because mine weights 15lbs. It just needs full power for takeoff, and fly at half power very scale like.
See a lot of pics at:

Hope you enjoy them
Best regards:

Thanks for the additional picture Scott!
Would you take another picture at your leisure of a pure side view, as if it were part of a three-view set. I would like to compare the shape of the TF model with some pictures of some 2002-2004 Factory Cessnas (full-scale).

Also for everyone's enjoyment is a website with lots of TF Cessna construction pictures:
