Sig SE Engine mount.

I am in the middle of building my 2nd SE [8D]. I am going to increase the rudder size a little and put on a bigger LG for a bigger prop. I am putting a OS70 II surpass on it. HAs anyone else put this engine on one. I had to put the engine forward to clear the fuel line holes and to give the throttle some room. Does this sound right. I just dont want to have to add too much weight to the back to balance it out. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
John

Sounds like you have your engine positioned correctly. You have to provide clearance for both the items you mentioned.

FWIW, I had to add about 1 oz. to the tail of my SE with a YS .63 even with the solid wire tail braces.

OK, Thanks. I cant wait to get the 4 stroke running. It will be my first 4. I just hope I can get it broke in correctly. As for the gear, I have been doing some searching and can't really find anything. I ran across this web site, http://www.fiber-lite.com/ . It says its about 1 3/8" taller, will this be enough. Also what prop should I start with with the os70. Thanks again,
John

Its better to have a nose heavy plane when its just build, you dont need that much weight to get the cg good,
I like to place it right under the stab, against the fuselage, put some covering over it and nobody will notice

Do check into a stronger landing gear. I bought a taller wider one at my LHS because of what I have seen with other SE's. A hard landing will certainly bend the smaller gear, and keeping the prop tip off of the runway will be easier. I am at work, but when I get home, I will add a pic of mine with a sullivan tail wheel and the front gear.

I have seen a Carbon Fiber set for the SE on ebay from time to time, it was taller and a little wider and was only like 19.99 , also you could mount your battery behind the servo rear wall just under your cables if you need to add more weight to rear,
