Beta kit builders wanted
I'm coming out with several new kits in the up coming months and looking for a few good builders who have the time and building exp.
I will have a new DHC-2 Beaver coming out as well as a new improved Norseman among a few other new kits. If you feel you might have an interest in doing some Beta building please send me an e-mail. All I ask is that you be a good builder and be willing to offer your honest opinions. And be commited to a project not just a kit collecter. Thanks for looking, |

Dear Mark,
I have been back in the hobby for about 3 years now & would be very interested in doing something like this. Since coming back to the hobby I have built approx. 8 kits. Those would include ARF's, a Sig Kadet, GP Slowpoke, Sig Somethin Extra, TopFlite Contender, some other powered gliders and other trainers. Currently, I'm building a Flair Yak-55 for myself & a D&L Design Edge 540 for my son. I have been told that my building is very good. I would be interested in the particulars of a project like this, if you feel that my experience & skill would be helpful to you. Ken Vaughn Mesquite, NV email: [email protected] |
Q & A
Just to answer some questions a Beta kit is just that, a prototype kit that is in R & D. You will be provided a CAD designed kit with lazer cut parts. Some building notes but no assy manual.
You should be able to take a set of basic plans and read from them The designs are pretty simple to build from but since it is a prototype design there is no building manual. I do not pay you guys to build them I'm providing a very well designed kit for you to build & fly. Once you have the kit it is yours to keep, build and fly. I'm just looking for feedback to help with building manuals and flight data. I have 9 new designs in R & D right now and I also do prototype building for 2 other model Mfg's So I simply do not have the time to do them. So I hope this helps with any questions you may have. The designs are all most done and I'm looking to start with in 30-45 days. Depending on the kit power will be anything from a .60 up to a twin G-38 for my big Twin Otter to be released late this year. Thanks again, |

Mark -
What size are these kits? |
Prototype
Hey Mark I might be interested in doing the Norseman prototype. It would be a good complement to my Otter:-)I Just happen to have a nice big new engine to mount on it.

I'm retired, like building as much as flying, enjoy improvising and kit-bashing, like the quarter scale Piper, Taylorcraft, Stinson, Cessna type models, have built four Chipmunks, experienced with both balsa and foam, glow and gas. I am in the habit of keeping extensive building notes, think I could return a lot of good detail to you. I don't think my shop would be quite big enough to handle 144" wingspan, but I have done up to 108". I'd enjoy doing another Chipmunk--or Bird Dog, Beaver, Otter, etc.

Mark,
I'd love to beta build one of your new kits. A huge fan of DeHavilland aircraft, I'm very interested in building the Beaver, Otter, or Twin Otter (#1 choice), in the .60 - .90 size engine range. I've been kit building for about 11 years, and have done extensive scratch-building as well. As I generally spend several days / weeks studying plans before beginning a scratchbuild project, the lack of an instruction manual should not pose a problem. As I'm in Canada, I'd be happy to cover any shipping costs that apply for the cross-border shipment. Jason Huisman Calgary, Alberta, Canada [email protected] [email protected] |

Slim - how do you like the YAK. I have been flying mine for 2 years now with Moki 1.80.

Would love to build a prototype. Been building and flying on and off for 25 yrs. I have experience in writing tech manuals for the computer industry, which have to be written with the inexperienced user in mind.
