Ron Daniels Tempest Tips
Does anyone have any tips on building this plane? I am just starting.
One thing that I would like to do is mount individual aileron servos, any advice on this? Any build pictures? Thanks, Adam |

Hi Adam,
I´ve set up my Mk V with individual Aileron servos Although it is not really necessary you can programm some differential an some up deflection for landings. I use hitec 81s since I had tjem in spare smaller ones will do the job too. Very stable and nice plane!!:D |

Hi Adam,
two more of the covered wing regards Josef |
RE: Ron Daniels Tempest Tips
Hi Josef,
thanks for the reply! I installed the aileron servos as you did but with a hatch. I am now having difficulty getting my glow motor mounted far enough back against the firewall to not have to extend the cowling too much to get up behind the spinner baseplate. Looks like you went electric so probably less of an issue. I am contemplating moving the firewall backwards a little but have to figure out the change in angle needed for the offset if I do that, not too keen on that. Today I am going to look for an alternative engine mount and hopefully will have some success. Adam PS Did you use a hidden internal antenna or a trailing wire? Any more photos would be really appreciated. Thanks. The last two didn't make it! |

Hi Adam,
2nd attempt antenna installation as on pics I routed it out behind the wing saddle so it doesn`t disturb the overall appearance too much happy landings |
RE: Ron Daniels Tempest Tips
Hi Adam,
I used a SLEC engine mount on my Tempest. Needed a little "modification" to get the engine (OS25 FX) all the way back. http://user.tninet.se/~ytm843e/P7030001small.jpg To hide the antenna I used some left-over of a yellow Sullivan inner push-rod. It exits at the "tail-wheel" position. http://user.tninet.se/~yct679b/rcron71.jpg /Christer |
