RE: Sig Komander??
See my remarks on the gear reinforcement in the other Kommander thread. Great, durable plane - served me well with a K&B 40. The wing/gear mounting blocks can be easily reinforced by drilling a 1/4" hole through the wing to block, epoxy the dowl in place and sand/fill smooth. You may have to cut a groove through the dowl for the gear mounting. Epoxy with micro-balloons will do the trick.

RE: Sig Komander??
I loved flying my Kommander. It was my second model after a Kadet Mk2. The Kommander was the model I learned to fly inverted with. I used to fly the entire flight inverted just because the model flew so well in that attitude.

RE: Sig Komander??
Wow, this is a major blast from the past for me. I learned how to fly with a Sig Kommander back in 1985. I built it in two weeks, flew it with a Supre-Tigre 40, and an old Airtronics 6ch AM radio. It was a blast to fly. I crashed it twice, and both times fixed it and flew again. I built it just like the plans said, and I used some extra fiberglass cloth over the gear blocks to strengthen them, but everything else was just like the plans said. I was very easy to fly and stable, but also a quick snap roller.

Did you happen to see my comment on the other Kommander thread about the way your motor is mounted? You might want to take serious note of that. There is a potential problem there.

Color scheme and with a dorsal fin modification. The other mods included larger 2 inch ailerons, addition of a plywood wing spar, wing mounted servos, removable control surfaces and flat wing tips. A later mod may include flaps as a hole was cored in the foam to accommodate the servo wires.
