Looking for a Pitts Special kit, 40-60 size. Any suggestions?

Nope, I am sorry but there are no kits. There is Lanier Ultimate Bibe, it is bigger.

I posted this question a year ago and there is no kit for Pitts S-2B.

I also love this plane and want to build one, however no kits.

So ended up buying plans from RCM, I have 2 set of plans one by Nick Zirroli in late 60's and the other is Norm McFarland, if I am not mistaken.

Zirolli Pitts is S1-A the first pitts and smaller than the S2-B, the bw picture is what it is modeled after. "The Little Stinker"

I bought wood for Ziroli pitts but did not have a chance to work on it yet. It is featued in one of the articles also in RCM. If I am not mistaken it was 1969.

But there is Cenmark ARF at this size.

If you watch the marketplace or E-bay, you can occasionally see an old Midwest or Pilot Pitts kit for sale.

Hi,...

Model Airplane News (MAN) published the Pitts Special as a construction article in the April 1974 issue. Plans are still available through Airage publishing (plan # FSP04742).

This Pitts was designed by Jerry Nelson, the same design that Midwest kitted in the late 70's early 80's. Wingspan 48 inches, length 41 inches for a 60 size engine. Very nice airplane, my personal favorite!!

Royal used to kit a couple Pitts models, the single seat S-1 and the S-2B. I've seen the S-2B kits recently advertised under another name, but can't remember what it was. Does anyone know who picked up the Royal line??

Hope that helps, (a bit)!!

Sincerely,
Steve T.

Steve is correct, Royal did a couple of kits. They are now under the name of Maratuka, and available at Hobby Barn:

I've got the Marutaka Little Half, a 10-15 size Pitts S2. Guess it's a little smaller than the OP was looking for :-)
