ultra stick 60 tailfeathers
 

Hi all,
i'm asking here in hope some experienced builders will advise.
I'm flying an ultra stick .60 arf/saito 100.
Plane went in from about 20 feet and the horizontal stab got damaged on left side.
the stab is buildt up from light balsa sticks in one piece and glued to the
tail with epoxy flush with the fuse. The LE and TE crunched and the
sticks came through the covering. removed covering and puzzled and ca'ed together,
strengthened the hotglued points with ca hinge material,
recovered and added alu braces for stability. looks funky but flies ok.
However, i'm not happy with it and concerned if i should replace the whole thing.
the stab is made of soft balsa/hotglue and someone experienced a total rip out, this thread:

I looked in Harry Higley's book "mostly mounting" and found this page 47:

"Tail assemblies on some kits powered by .20 to .60 engines have shortcomings that you should
correct. The tail surfaces my be buildt up from sticks and small pieces. Unless this was done
for scale appearance like our Sig Smith Mini Plane, do yourself a favor and replace them with solid sheet balsa. The same advice applies to the fin and rudder."

I'm thinking this would be an easier and more stronger fix.
My PT-40 trainer is build like that.
Can anyone please elaborate with tips how to proceed?
