Looking for Dynaflite Chipmunk
 

Does anyone know where I can get a NIB Dynaflite Chipmunk kit? The giant scale one with the 89" wingspan. Just when I decided to get one they discontinued it! [:@]

It is still shown on the website, but I sent them an email and the kit is no longer available. I have called several retailers and nobody still has one. Great Plains has come out with an ARF, but it is not as big and I don't want the red, white and blue version. Surely, someone has a kit they would sell to me? :eek:

Why don't you check out the line of Chipmunks from Apache Aviation.
I have built two of them and they are excellent.

Very similar size, or 1/5 (81" ).

They have both the retract and fixed gear versions of the Art Scholl Super Chipmunk, the Pepsi Chipmunk and the original DH Chipmunk.

I agree. I have the Dynaflite and want to convert it to a Super Chipmunk. I wish I had known about the Apache.

Looked at the Apache Chipmunks- they look like pretty nice kits. But the cost was 209 pounds! Unless I'm mistaken, that works out to about $383 in U.S. dollars! And that is before shipping! That's pretty steep for a wood kit, doncha' think?

It may appear as a steep price however what you get included in the kits offsets the price somewhat.
I have both the N13Y (retract) version and am currently finishing off the Pepsi Chipmunk.

They include basically everything except covering, engine and radio and all the accessories are top quality.
Overall cost when you're finished isn't that much higher than other kits.

I would keep trying to find the DynaFlite version for a while. I have started the discontinued DynaFlite Flybaby kit and the wood and die cutting was EXCELLENT. I replace most of the hardware on most kits anyway. The SLOTTED screws and bolts are first to hit the trash can!!;) I have had the Flybaby kit under the bench for a year or more. I got in on the last month they were still on the retail scene. Good Luck....lownslo.

Airsail Intl. in Neu Zealand has the Dehavilland Chipmunk in kit form.

Found one!!! A shop called Model Land in Calgary, Alberta (That's way up in Canada, eh!) had one for sale. With the shipping cost me $299 Canadian (about $252 US). A little high, but it's worthwhile for an out-of-production NIB kit. It should work perfectly with the Ryobi 31 cc gas engine I have. Check them out at:
