Help with Great Planes Super Aeromaster
Hello people,
I recently aquired a built Great Planes Super Aeromaster but it doesn't have the interplane struts for the wings. Can somebody please post the materails used for the struts? I would also appreciate it if someone could scan the portion of the plans showing the interplane struts. Thank Erwin |

Help with Great Planes Super Aeromaster
Jerry,
Sorry I forgot to mention. This is the .60size aeromaster. I was searching for some photos and found some which does not have any interplane struts. Now I'm confused. Does the .60size Super Aeromaster have interplane struts or not? Regards, Erwin |
lacks interplanes
Nope, the .60 size Super Aeromaster doesn't include interplane struts. You have to wing it :D with your own materials. This is one plane I sure wish they would update and bring out again.

I'm Building One
I'm currently building this plane. I'm building version 3 with 2 - 52 inch swept wings. Plane is all wooded up. I didn't go with the big round cowl. I'm about to drill the 4 holes to mount the bottom wing. Outer struts will be 1/8th inch thick ply with balsa seats on each wing. Power is ST 60 ring. Outer struts are a pain. Keep in touch. Plane is very time consumming to build however I'm not in a hurry.

ramcharger,
Since I got mine already built and I don't have a copy of the plans, I have some questions to ask: 1. What's the suggested weight? 2. What's the size of the fuel tank? Btw, mine came with an OS 91-FS engine preinstalled. Do you think this will fly fine without the interplane struts? Erwin |
Help with Great Planes Super Aeromaster
A 91 Surpass should be fine. Engine recommendations are 60 to 75 2 cyc and 91 to 120 4 cyc. Control surface throws are 1/2" aileron, 3/4" elev, and 1-1/4" rudder. A 14 oz tank is shown on plans. I plan to install outer struts both for appearance and stability of the upper wing. Can't find anything on weight. Plane has a different cg for each of the 3 versions. Good Luck!!!!!

ramcharger,
Thanks for the info. I just finished test running the engine just to make sure its running. Good thing it was. Should be ready for a test flight by next weekend. Btw, I used a Dubro 14oz tank since I can't find any other comparable size tank, and it sure was a tight fit. There was only 1/16" clearance on each side of the fuse. I have some other questions again: 1. Does the plan have any recommended right/down thrust for a FS-91 engine? 2. Where's the CG for the swept back top wing and lower wing configuration? Erwin |
Aeromaster cg
The cg for version 3 is 3/8 inch in front of the rear cabane wire supporting the top wing. There is no recommendeded engine offset for either 2 or 4 cycle engines, however they mention the use of Ernst plugs for up to 2 degree right offset if that is your personal preference. They are to be installed behind the engine mount. I'm using a 12 oz round Pylon tank to lay in the bulkhead craddle.
