4 Star 60 problem. Please HELP!!

Guys, I have a little problem! I am building the forur star 60, and I sheeted the top of the wing center section with 1/16"x 3"x36". this is what I was supposed to sheet the stabilizers with! I haven't done the bottom or the other wing yet. I was supposed to use 3"32"x4"x36". am I screwed? what should I do Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

RELAX! It's OK! Just buy some 1/16th for the tail. 1/16th on the wing should be fine, just handle it a little more carefully. Don't use the 3/32 on the tail, though, as it will effect the CG of this already tail-heavy plane.

If you are really worried about the sheeting thickness on your wing centre section, I have three suggestions:

1) 1/16 = 2/32 so you could laminate another 1/32 sheet on top of the existing sheet to get the desired thickness

OR

2) Fibreglass the entire wing centre section with light glass cloth

OR

3) Don't worry about it, 1/16 balsa will give adequate strength along with all the spruce and balsa used for ribs and spars.

I agree -- don't worry about it.

Make sure to do the bottom of the wing with the 3/32". When you pick up a plane with thin sheeting you have to be careful not to crack the sheeting with your fingers. This is more of a worry on the bottom of the wing then the top.

Agree with everyone else, you're not "screwed". ;)

As was mentioned though, go the the Hobby Shop and buy some 1/16th for the tail.

I'm more inclined to go with a layer of 3/4 ounce glass on the entire center section. It helps keep the edges of the wing saddle from biting into the balsa as well.
