Challenging Scale Kit
 

I am looking for a challenging scale kit, something in the 90 + range. I would love to find a Beeche Stagger Wing, getting a bit tired of war birds but would consider a good one. I always want to build a nice cessna too or that barrow bodied pusher puller twin engine .. hmm can't remember the name of it, lol.. but I believe it too is a cessna.

Just a side comment, it sure is getting hard to find kits, especially nice ones. Somehow we must promote building or the arfs will crush the remaining company's. I love to build, and fly only to justify building, lol...

Something like a Cessna Skymaster 337, with push and pull twin engine.

There is a challanging kit with this twin cessna but I can't recall the mgf.

Consider building the plane you want from plans. If its a kit you want, order a kit from the plans; several companys cut kits from plans and others provide the landing gear and fiberglass parts such as cowls. If you build from plans your choice of planes is greatly increased. For example, take a look at what Wendell Hostetler or Nick Ziroli has to offer; just put their name in your search engine and check out their offerings.

Royal (Marutaka) kits are considered by many to be chalanging due to the large amount of shaping and shortage of instructions. They had a Cessna Skymaster kit too. Their kits tend to be a bit smaller than what you are looking for. The Skymaster is under 80" if I recall correctly. You can find their kits on ebay. Most sell for between $220 and $350.

Go look at the Proctor kits, I think any of the large ones would be a challange. They are supposed to be coming out with a 1/3 scale Fleet biplane before long so you might ask about that.

Jump into a 'short kit'. That is, the main parts are cut for you, form a kit cutter, you just buy the planks & sticks. The plan sets are avaliable from the reputable 'scale masters' such as Ziroli, Bates, Holsteadler (sp?) etc.. Many have warbirds, but also many have civilian & commercial ones too!

It's basically one step up from 'scratching'!

I'm currently building an Ikon Stinson SR-8. It's definitely a challenge, and should result in a very nice looking bird. So far, I have framed the fuse. Wings look to be very complicated.

I just finished TopFlite's Stinson Reliant, SR-9. What a babe in the air. Look to my gallery.
