Gents,
Picked up a nice Waco built here in NY while working on the road. Would like to know what kit it is. I'm pretty sure it is a kit as it has many ABS parts.

Here is the details.
70" wingspan
ABS cowl, wing fillets, upper wing fuel tanks, and aileron covers so they look corigated(sp)
Balsa wheel pants
Aileron servos are in lower wing and stick out the bottom.

This plane has been modified a lot to match Jim Franklin's airshow Waco back when it was black.
Thanks for any help. I just want to be able to get a set of plans just in case I need to make up some new wood parts. We all know that NEVER happens, right!

If it's a replica of Jimmy Franklin's airplane, it'll be a Waco UPF-7. Does it have a nice sweeping dorsal fin extension? That's the dead giveaway for the UPF, which was originally built as a trainer for the US Army. Franklin's was modified for airshow work.

I don't know anyone off the top of my head who kitted that particular Waco, though.

It sounds like a kit bashed PICA 1/5th scale YMF-3 WACO. The reason I say that is because the kit come with plastic aileron covers which I never used on mine plus the other amenities you described. It has about a 70 inch wingspan. I fly the 1/5 scale PICA WACO and just received my 1/6th scale PICA WACO in the mail today from Quantum Hobbies. I have the 1/5th scale plans and will answer any question.

I will take a look at the pica plane as I think you are right. This one has been modified like crazy and the top wing has been signed by Jim Franklin himself at an airshow in 1997. I think the only parts that are from the kit are the wings and a few formers all the rest seems to be scratch built to match Jim's plane.
It has a ST 2500 and 18X5 prop on it. Can't wait to get home and fire it up! Looks like it will be a great flyer.

I looked around the web and have to agree that it is a Pica Waco. Thanks for the help.
If you have those plans handy, could you give me the CG and the control throws? I just want to be sure the radio I put in is set up right.

The cg is 5-3/8 inch from the front edge of the top wing. The throws are 3/4 inch, aileron, 1 inch elevator, and 1-3/4 inch rudder. The top wing has 0 degree incidence. Mine is powered by a Zenoah G23 and the cg came out betwwen 5 and 5-1/4 inch but it flies fine. My throws are 1 inch, 1 inch, and 2 inch in the above order. Mine weighs 14 lbs & 9 oz which is also important.
