Morris hobbies Gee whiz Bee
Hello; I was given this kit by a fellow who can't build any more. Has anyone seen one of these fly? Or built one?
Any tips hints or suggestions that might improve the experience? |

Hello; Someone must have seen one of these.

RE: Morris hobbies Gee whiz Bee
I seem to remember one being in one of the LHS's around here. Still in kit form. Box says something about it being in "Stand way off and squint" scale.:D
I think its a profile plane? Pretty sure they still have it. I am currently building a Morris Hobbies Penknife which is presenting me with a pretty good challenge. First time with a profile RC plane so sticking all the electronics in the wing is new for me. All surfaces will be pull/pull and I took the plans too literally when installing the cable sheaths so I need to cut em down and move the exits back to clear the rear of the wing. The instructions are pretty vague in a lot of areas. If the Gee Whizz Bee is like the Penknife I would definitely take my time and re-check everything before glueing! |

I built two (one for me and one for friend) right when they came out around 8 or so years ago. It flew real well and did climbing inverted flat spins all day. It does just about all the tricks the morris profile planes are known for. If I remember correctly, knife edge took some time to master, there was A LOT of coupling going on and required a good amount of elevator trim to keep it flying straight in knife edge. It is worth the build, go for it!!

Hello; Thanks for the reply fellows. I have a Saito 56 for it. The idea of a climbing flat spin appeals to me. I had a "Coal Hauler" back when they were the newest craze, and have had a Sig Fazer and Ultimate fun fly, so I should be able to figure it all out.

I had one about 10 years ago and had a blast with it. All the Morris Hobbies planes are a lot of fun. But I think the Gee Whiz Bee was my favorite. Flew it so much it finally got fuel soaked and couldn't fix it.

Bought one last March at the Perry Swap Meet for $30 - all together including repairs. Having fun with it so far with an O.S 46FX! Trying it out with the 12.25x3 prop after I fix the busted wing tip! Haven't been able to hang it on the prop yet! Not sure the 46FX is strong enough!
