Bi-plane kit project

Hi all,

I'm about to complete my first kit, a GP P51D Mustang (can't wait to get it in the air).
Its time to think on the next build project, and my thoughts are on a Bipe.
I am currently considering 2 options - a GP Super Skybolt and the obvious Sig Hogbipe.
The Hog appears easier to build, however I have grown fond of GP's slick and smooth balsa finish, and the Hog "Boxy" Ply construction seems a setback.
What are your thoughts ? any other ideas I should consider ?

Bipes are harder than you think. I would go with the Hogbipe; then, if you like it, I would try the Super Skybolt.:D

Good luck

My second kit is the Skybolt. Had a blast building it. Less than 20 hours left to fly her. I can't wait! What a sexy airplane!

Don't know about the hog bipe. From what I have read it is a good plane. I have heard the skybolt is a pretty difficult build with a lot of work. Not trying to put u off, just a warning. What about the GP ultimate bipe? I have one of these and it is my fav plane.

I had the same thoughts as you, and chose the hog & don't regret it at all! :D

take a look at this :

i've finished the wings , the stab & finn, so far so good;)
the cabane is pre-bent so there's no guess work there

the only mods i'm making is i'm adding a cowl up front, don't like the "open" nosejob

I also hear the Skybolt was easy to build.....what a bunch of hooey. It's not as easy as a 4star but I had no problems at all. The directions were easy to follow and very detailed. The hardest part was trying decide on the color scheme. Build the Slybolt if you like to hear oooo's and ahhhh's when you get to the field. The Hog bipe is nice too but get the fiberglass cowl that Stan's Fibertech makes for it. That open motor just ruins the whole look[:'(]

Hi, mail order a Chris Fosse Wot's WOT, a superb bi-plane, very stable, easy (but a lot of) to build, looks damn good, and is sooooo easy to fly.
