Looking for 3D capable kit for a Saito 100
Hi all,
I have a Saito 100 that is looking for a home. I am looking for a 3D capable kit to put it in. I have considered the Great Planes Extra 300 .60 with control surface mods but I'm not sure this will produce the desired 3D results. Any other scale to semi-scale kits out there I may be missing? What about a CA Model Epsilon? It's not scale but looks the part and flies very nicely in videos I have seen.
Presently I am building one and I must say it's a very nice and easy build. The fuselage parts are laser cut and all flying surfaces are balsa sheeted foam cores. I have decided to use a Saito 100 to power my Epsilon. [link=http://www.camodel.com.ar/Ingles/modelos.htm]http://www.camodel.com.ar/Ingles/modelos.htm[/link] /Red B. |

Red B. - That Epsilon is one beautiful plane. Looks very nice. Unfortunately it is a bit on the pricy side at $200.00 US. Worth it I suppose since it has so many pre-sheeted parts. Thats one I will have to keep in consideration.
MinnFlyer - Thanks for the suggestion of the Funtana. However I was kind of looking for a kit. The Funtana is the type of plane that I am interested in though. I have considered the Funtana already but it seems the general opinion is it is a bit underpowered with a Saito 100. Sure wish they made it in a kit so I could pick through the parts and replace the wood I don't like... I have been knocking around the idea of the GP Extra 300 .60 thinking that maybe the airframe could be lightened in a similar manner that Hangar 9 did the Funtana with all the lightening holes. There was a thread not too long ago where a guy was doing this very thing with a GP Skybolt. I considered getting a Skybolt and doing the same but decided against it since I don't feel like going through the extra hastle of setting up a bipe out at the field - at least at this point. I know the GP Extra is already fairly light from other posts I've read - it does sound like some of the wood tends to be a bit heavy which can be replaced. I guess my general goal is to build whatever I decide on to be as light as possible. Not at all unlike the Epsilon and Funtana. Your suggestions are definitely on the right track! |

FlyerBry have a look at this kit. It may be along the lines of what you are looking for.
