HACKER Spitfire
any tips on building one of those?
1- the gel-coated fuse seems a little too soft near the tail; plans show NO formers to be added... ? 2- type of retracts? (with semi-scale legs) was thinking Spring air 103HD or Eurokit CRA/15331/000? 3- the pre-sheeted foam wing has no flaps- is it possible to mod the wing for flaps? has anyone done this? 4- PILOT? the Spit is a 1:6.5 scale any Brit wwII that size?(has to be good looking too! :) ) 5- cockpit/ instrument kit (1:6.5)? or plans to build from scratch? 6- looking for an interesting color scheme (MkIX) 7- am using a .91 MVVS (2 cycle) : 2 or 3 blade prop? (for looks and realistic flight) if anyone who has built this kit has any good info let me know, all tips are welcome! Vasek |
Re: HACKER Spitfire
If you can get hold of a copy of RC Scale International Oct 2002 edition they have an interesting review of the Hacker Spitfire IX. Sounds like a nice kit.

If you can't find it, let me know I'll see if I can scan it and send it to you. For a pilot, use the Top Flite guy and paint him in RAF uniform. Either Pica or Top Flite cockpit kit works too.

thnx for the offer, if i need it i'll let you know.
Vasek p.s. i don't like the 'generic' T.F. kits, but rather something like the Mick Reeves instrument panel - http://www.mrmodels.fsnet.co.uk/p4spit.htm the problem is with the scale of my kit (1:6.5) which is in between the two sizes he makes (1:6 and 1:7) that is why i'm asking for help of someone who has tried to fit either of the two sizes cockpit kits in this plane... the same with the pilot 1:6 would make a small guy and 1:7 would be a giant (am not sure he would fit in the cockpit... see my problem!?) |
