CG For Somethin
OK guys, lets hear it. What is the farthest back you have located the Center Of Gravity for your Sig Somethin' Extra? And how does it fly? Or when did ya run into tail heavy trouble?[8D]

RE: CG For Somethin
Guess I will talk to myself on this one. Even though I have seen the Balance point discussed several times in the forums about the SSE, havenot seen anyone go out and actually know where they balance at. Some say per the plans, others not. So I wonder what the verdict is going to be.
Got mine balancing at 4 inches, or 33% depending on how you figure for the MAC. I have yet to calculate the Neutral Point on this plane, however if the NP is back far enough you should be able to go back 35 or 40%. Again depending on your figures for MAC. |
RE: CG For Somethin
For anyone coming across this topic,,, the 4 inches back on the SSE works. Period.
I have seen some argue on this and I now know that 3.5 is fine if you want a bit nose heavy. The plane flys great. If I move the CG back further, I'll post it. |
RE: CG For Somethin
You're not just talking to yourself, windtalker. I'm here very interested in what you have to say. Mine is balanced at 3.5 inches, it flies great, but when I'm inverted the nose wants to drop. Now I feel more comfortable moving the cg back a little.

RE: CG For Somethin
Thanks:)
Let me know how it does.... This kit seems to be one of the most bashed kits out there, besides the 4*. Think the next bash I will do is to eliminate some of the wing tube. (Also discussed in another forum. Q&A i think) I can not see the need for so much tube. Either cut it into 2 pieces and permenantly install into each wing, or just cut some off each end. Then add foam to the ends to prevent shifting. My tube moves around a bit causing vibration. I have added some foam to each tube already. |
