Help with Top Hinging

I’m planning to use Profilm to hinge my new project. I have never used this method before and have some questions.

Will it be strong enough? It’s going to be on a 1.40 engined pattern plane

The control surfaces are al ready covered, does this matter, and will it still work as well?

I was not planning on doing the rudder the same way, should I?

RE: Help with Top Hinging

Hello Flashman,
I have used pro film for top hinging on my Glens cap. This is the way he tells you to do them and it works well although you do make the hinges first then cover over the top and bottom of the wing as usual which makes them strong and secure. Other guys in my club have used sown hinges using solar tex which is then covered over with the likes of pro film. Hope this helps,

Leigh.
