Easy-to-build kit
 

Hello! I am looking for a kit that caters to the beginning builder. I've always wanted to build a Mustang or a Piper arrow-how are the Top Flite Gold Edition Kits?

PS. If the Top Flite kits are too advanced, what else is there in the warbird/piper category that's easy to build?

What is your building experience? Top Flite kits are "not" bad, but nothing an inexperienced building should jump on. They still take some building, and I guess you could call them somewhat of a builder's kit. My vote would be the Great Planes Mustang 40 if you are new to kit building, GP does a nice job for the "easy to build" kit, I think. If you can get your hands on the Old Midwest "warbird" series, they are very easy to build, and the target was for the easy build, 2nd or so plane. Good Luck.

You didn't say whether or not you are a beginning flyer. If you are new to flying and are planning to learn to fly with the completed kit, I would urge you to consider building a trainer and becoming a proficient pilot before tackling a war bird.

The Sig LT-40 or Great Planes PT series would be good choices.

If you already fly RC planes and are new to building, the G.P. Mustang or Corsair would be good choices.

Also there's "easy" and then there's "fast." Which do you want? The 4*40 seems to have snagged the title of fastest building kit ever (the record seems to be about 3 days). Other kits might take more time but still go together with ease.

I can get a 4* rtf in 10 hours.:D
If you want easy, go with Sig. All their new planes are top of the line easy and well done. (their Cub is a good plane also) I've built a number of Kadets, I'm on my second SE and I've helped build a 4*.

I'm building the TF Arrow and would not recommend it to a first time builder - get a few kits under your belt (like those mentioned above) before you build a scale kit.
