CONVERTING KAOS TO TAIL DRAGGER
I want to convert my 40 size Kaos to a tail dragger and was wondering how to make the blocks for the 3/16 slots that the gear wire has to lay down in. Any help and ideas with this project I'm working would be greatly appreciated!

You can make these from hardwood and slot them on a table saw, or buy them from Sig for a couple $ a set. Your Local Hobby supplier may have them.... Mark

p.s. There additional posts in the Classsic Pattern forum about converting such designs to tail dragger. Check it out....Mark

Why not simply attached an aluminum or carbon gear to the fuse? Add the Sullivan tail wheel and you're ready to go.

I like the gear in the wing :) The rudder is very thin so I'm not sure how I'm going to do the tail wheel.

Are you converting an ARF or building a kit and want to make it a taildragger ?

RE: CONVERTING KAOS TO TAIL DRAGGER
I am converting an arf, it's the Tower Hobbies 40size Kaos to a tail dragger. I ordered the sullivan tail wheel kit hoping it will work.

RE: CONVERTING KAOS TO TAIL DRAGGER
I have a Tower 60 KAOS kit that I built as a tail dragger. The correct ribs were pre-lasercut for tail-dragger or trike and I just cut out the appropriate slots and installed the rib doublers cut to fit and the wood landing gear blocks in the forward position and beefed it up accordingly. I doubt that the ribs are slotted forward of the trike position but it wouldn't hurt to look.

Yes you are correct the ribs are not slotted. I will be starting from scratch, and I too will be beefing up the wing in this area.

RE: CONVERTING KAOS TO TAIL DRAGGER
The 60 kit calls for plywood rib doublers (not the full rib, I think it was center spar forward) cut out so the landing gear sits in it. They go on the inside of the ribs so that the slotted landing gear blocks sit in them for a good strong glue joint with hardwood underneath for support.
