Hi,

I had tried to fly my Trainer and busted the very end of the main wing off. I have purchased a new Leading edge for the main wing since 2 /12" is broke. My Questions are:

1) Can I use a hardwood L/E instead of Balsa which is the original?

2) The hardwood L/E I bought is slightly bigger then the original Balsa L/E, can I use this without having to make it the same size? I will be replacing both L/E's if I can use the new stuff.

Seems like replacing both leading edges is a little extreme, you can just splice a new piece extending out from the break. I have spliced leading edges and spars, put a piece of sheet behind or below the splice to reinforce and it works fine. As for finding a matched shape you can just use balsa stock that is bigger than the original leading edge, splice it on and then shape it to the original. Im not sure how extreme the damage is but for a trainer just splicing pieces in should do fine, just do a little reinforcing around them.
