date on this package was 1993 - and the fun thing is that the balsa wood has the pattern printed on it...parts arent cut out.
Ive built kits before but this is a first....is this because of an older kit?

its fun but a little hard on the hands LOL

Mostly it's because it's an older kit, but some manufacturer's still make kits like that

They are what's known as a "Builder's Kit"

Meaning, you have to really enjoy being a builder to get through it

I have been building this kit also. Has taken me a lot of time to build as there is a whole lot of wood in that box. I build on it awhile then put it on the shelf, then start again, some day will get it done. Going to use a Fuji 32 for power, and some guys even go up to a US41, but it starts to get a bit heavy with that engine. Good luck, have fun with the build as she is a good flyer, and looks good in the air.

I spoke with Ruth at Midwest and she wasn't sure about putting a gas engine on this plane. I plan on doing it (a Fuji32B). Does anyone know if the firewall will be fine as built or will it need beefed up. Also, should this be an inverted mount. I assume it would be but you never know. It looks like a fun kit. Lots of wood. I do not think it all that old due to the laser cut parts. You still have to hand cut some of the balsa though. Anyone ever try using a band saw for this? One other question. I know Robart makes some retracts specifically for this kit, but WOW, what a price tag. $244.00. Is there another set that can be used, possibly mechanical or a standard pneumatic set? Would it be a 90 deg. I am asking so many questions because I got the kit recently with no plans or manual. I am awaiting them to be shipped to me. By the way, this kit is being discontinued.

I have one of these in my stack of kits to be built. Anybody have any pics of the construction. I am thinking about
selling it since I have such a backlog of stuff to do. Are you guys talking about the 80" or so wingspan plane?? I am
not sure if that was the only size Midwest made.

yes its the 80plus wingspan - ive got some pic's but cheap camera and mostly a dull yellow hue - been not too bad on the building - at this time weight is just over 7lbs that was before in installed motormount and engine - but do not have servos' or retracts in either.. specially for the 250+ pricetag for retracts - have mounted a magnum 120 at 90degree but am having problems with muffler - either i have to find a new muffler or figure out how to move engine to keep the 3down and 3 right for the incidence - is there a different pipe i can use to attach or maybe a pitts muffler so i dont have to cut the cowl much
