I need a builder.............

I started a aerotech 40% extra 300XS kit. And I got the fuse done except for the sheeting. I don't have the skill or experience for sheeting foam. I'm looking for some one in the southeast TN area to finish this thing. If you can help me out let me know.

Sheeting foam is not that hard. Do some searches here, and ask a few questions. You can do it.

The only thing that I don't like about foam wings is the fact that you gotta cut your ailerons out with a bandsaw when your done sheeting. I don't have a bandsaw.

You don't need a fancy vacuum bagging system to sheet those wings. The only tool you need is a bandsaw, but that's not till after your done. You got a friend with a bandsaw?

Just use Dave Brown Sourgum or some other foam safe contact cement. Make sure you have a way to weight them down over night while the adhesive sets up.

Good luck

Better yet, find someone in your area to come over and help you. You will learn how easy it is once you do it.

I got my ailerons ready made at the LHS. as for hindges I used clear matact , better than most type hindges. of course I used news paper for sheeting and a couple layers of white wood glue allow to dry in between layers,
you can paint every thing before adding the elevators, ailerons, matac hindges. etc.

That wasn't even funny[&o] Not sure were Athens is, but sheeting isn't near as hard as it looks. If you have a place to setup all the panels wouldn't take us an evenings work to get them done.

Athens is between Knoxville and Chattanooga, If I lived closer I could help, when I do foam wings I glue the sheeting together and trial fit on the foam core with alittle overlap all around, if you use DB sorgum you have one shot to get it right, because once its laid down theres no going back, so there is very little room for error, just be patient and good luck

Thanks guys for the help. I think that I might try it. If you guys don't care for me asking a lot of questions. Like my first question how do you lay out the sheeting I know that you have to true up the wood and fit them side to side but the sheeting is 48" and the wing is a lot longer. Does some one have any pictures or a diagram of how to lay the wood?

Here we go, lets make this simple, go to the Carden site and pick one of the build threads it will show the wings sheeting prior to putting on the wings. Just make sure the grain runs root to tip. Get a large aluminum T from lowes or Home depot and cut to 48" or larger. Add some adhesive and apply sandpaper. Now just sand the edges lightly to true up.
